Birdwatching, nature viewing and sightseeing
Enjoy plenty of wildlife viewing from your deck at
Ripple Run or for the more adventurous, visit other
locations nearby. At the mouth of the Nehalem estuary,
seals can frequently be seen on the beach. Dunes
separate the bay from the ocean at Nehalem Bay State
Park, which offers access and the best views of the
estuary. Birdwatching can be good year around here and
up river near Wheeler and the town of Nehalem, but is
best for birding April through August. Pelicans, common
murres, and puffins are at the coast only during these
months.
